Sodium-Ion Battery Makes China's Top 10 Energy Innovations 2024 List

January 17, 2025 — The National Energy Administration (NEA) announced the Top 10 Scientific and Technological Innovations in the Energy Industry for 2024. Supported by the National Key R&D Program project "Hundred-Megawatt-Hour Class Sodium-Ion Battery Energy Storage Technology," the "Large-Capacity Sodium-Ion Battery Energy Storage System," co-developed with the participation of HiNa Battery, has been successfully selected. This marks the first time a sodium-ion battery-related project has received this honor. This recognition not only represents high acclaim for the innovative R&D capabilities of the joint development team but also injects strong momentum into the high-quality development of the sodium-ion battery industry. Notably, this achievement was officially included in the NEA's fourth batch of the First (Set of) Major Technological Equipment list on January 7.

In recent years, China's new energy industry has experienced rapid development, with energy storage technology, as a key component, gaining increasing importance. The "Large-Capacity Sodium-Ion Battery Energy Storage System" can significantly enhance grid stability and reliability, providing robust technical support for the large-scale integration of renewable energy. The successful application of this system in Nanning, Guangxi, and Qianjiang, Hubei, not only offers crucial support for building China's new power system but also contributes Chinese expertise to the global energy transition, further solidifying China's leading international position in sodium-ion battery technology and industry.

As one of the core units in the joint development effort, HiNa Battery will fully leverage its professional advantages in sodium-ion battery technology. In collaboration with other partners, the company is committed to jointly advancing the technological optimization and market application of large-capacity sodium-ion battery energy storage systems.
