China's Largest Hybrid Storage Station Goes Live
Date:2025-04-01 11:47:46| Views:

March 27, 2025 — A 200 MW / 400 MWh independent energy storage station located in Qiubei County, Wenshan Prefecture, Yunnan Province, has achieved full-capacity grid connection. The project includes 40 MWh of sodium-ion battery capacity supplied by HiNa Battery. This initiative represents not only China's largest grid-forming lithium-sodium hybrid energy storage station but also the nation's first 1P (1-hour rate) sodium-ion battery storage project. It pioneers a commercial model where sodium-ion batteries participate in large-scale, composite high-low rate grid operations, offering an innovative solution for enhancing grid dynamic stability amidst high-proportion integration of renewable energy and establishing a new operational paradigm for sodium-ion battery applications in energy storage.

The newly grid-connected energy storage system utilizes HiNa Battery's power-type sodium-ion cells, which offer advantages such as high capacity, high-rate capability, long cycle life, a wide operating temperature range, and high safety. These cells fully leverage the inertia response and frequency support capabilities inherent to grid-forming storage, while also meeting the diverse energy storage scenario requirements across China's northern and southern regions.

Advancing the "Dual Carbon" Goals and Upgrading the New Energy Industry
As a significant deployment by HiNa Battery in southwestern China, this project effectively supports the construction of the new power system. It contributes to promoting green, low-carbon socioeconomic development in the region, helps alleviate grid integration pressure from local renewable power generation, and enhances overall grid stability.

Deepening Foothold in Energy Storage, Pioneering New Models
Since its founding in 2017, HiNa Battery has consistently focused on sodium-ion battery technology innovation. The company has established the world's first GWh-scale mass production line for sodium-ion batteries and has deployed multiple megawatt-hour level energy storage projects in locations such as Shanxi, Guangxi, and Hubei. The successful grid connection of this lithium-sodium hybrid project in Qiubei County, Yunnan, marks another major milestone for HiNa Battery in the energy storage sector. It accelerates the development of the sodium-ion battery frequency regulation industry ecosystem and provides a new model for the large-scale application of sodium-ion batteries in energy storage.
